Hello! My name is Alex, I am twenty years old, and a junior attending Florida State University. I am majoring in criminology and completing two minors in child development and sociology. My career goal is to work with juveniles in our justice system and eventually attend law school. Growing up with at least twenty cousins, I have a lot of experience interacting with children of all ages, even as young as a newborn. I have experience babysiting my neighbor's children, my siblings, and cousins throughout middle school and high school.
Throughout my freshman year of high school, I was a student teacher for a combo dance class at my dance studio. Once a week I worked with children ages 4-5 on their dance technique and we practiced their spring performance routine for the end of the year show. Even being a part of the dance studio as one of the older girls, you find yourself taking care of the younger girls with their makeup, costumes, and hair for the performances.
Senior year, I acted as a mother's helper for a family with two boys, ages 5 and 8 a few days a week. Together we would work on their homework, have fun playing games like playing a game of soccer outside, or even take trips to the park to play basketball. I would also cook them dinner, and prepare them for bed. I would also sit for this family on Friday or Saturday nights while they went out, and the boys and I had fun playing outside, building forts, and ending the night with a good movie!
